Loyola University Humanities Building Stationery
by Anne Kostecki
This was a self-initiated project for the Undergraduate Admissions department of Loyola University Maryland. One of the most beloved and historic buildings on campus, the Humanities building is not only unique but also the perfect subject to represent Loyola. When I started the project, I was not sure exactly where the painting would end up: it could be part of a larger print piece, a web-based illustration, or it could be the beginning of a series featuring well-known places on campus.
After I completed the watercolor painting, I presented it to my colleagues, to great enthusiasm. The marketing and undergraduate teams decided to use the painting as a focal point on stationery, which could be used as a thank you note or any other type of university-branded correspondence. The finished painting was about 9 x 12 inches on cold press watercolor paper. The final stationery was a 4 x 6 inch folded card with gold foil envelope.
